Mostly I've been in my room writing this week. I've written papers on kaiseki cuisine, Unit 731, Chinese medicine, and what visiting Hiroshima meant to me...etc.
I'm considering posting a few of the papers here on the blog to share with family and friends who might be interested, but at the moment I need to continue writing more papers, as each field trip and seminar I attend requires a written response, something that I would like more if I didn't have to write for every single one, but could choose from them and do a pre-specified amount. I find that having the requirement to write about each one has given many of us less anticipation for the field trips and seminars as an experience and more of an inclination to regard them as just one more paper due, but I still find most of them well worth it.

You could post the English translation of your papers...then folks could tell what you were up to...or are you thinking in Japanese now?
I wish I was thinking in Japanese!
Actually, my school isn't a Japanese school, but an American school in Japan, so much of my work is in English but about Asian culture. I do have Japanese class with Japanese work, also. I would have liked to attend Japanese school, but most of them wanted me to be here for a year, not a semester and that wouldn't have worked well in my situation.
As an Asian Studies major (as opposed to a Japanese major) this kind of school worked, and though I had wanted to study all my classes in Japanese, I find that I am glad to be here in the culture and having some excellent experiential classes, some of which are taught in Japanese (one of the reasons there are so many papers --- we have to write formal papers about all of it).
We have had the chance to participate in some excellent field trips about which I need to post more information and pictures. I am hoping to catch up with the blog when I catch up with the homework!!!
